From dream... to reality

The "House of Mercy" was born from the dream of seeing the ex-prisoners reintegrated into the world "out of jail" in a sincere attitude of repentance for their crimes and, at the same time, cultivating the ability to build a new existence as a people renewed and reconciled with life, through the power of love and the accompaniment of the brothers.

What's this?

The "House of Mercy" is a recovery center and a concrete response to the challenge of reintegration and rehabilitation of prisoners, particularly the youth age group.
It is a physical, psychological, anthropological, affective, cultural and spiritual place in which you can build or rebuild certain personality traits, adversely affected by experiences of the past time or matured during detention.

Why?

The project "House of Mercy" aims to provide a time and a "positive" and "constructive" place for ex-prisoners, when they leave prison or during the last days of detention (as permitted by the Mozambican legislation on alternative custodial measures) to continue and conclude the path of reconstruction of a positive personal responsibility for the social and family reintegration.

What purpose?

The "House of Mercy" is conceived as a life experience in which the ex prisoners may be allowed to live and breathe a family atmosphere that fills them with positive energy to enter the society and in their family, making a community living program, learning workshops, attending school, living art therapy experiences in contact with nature and with a psycho-spiritual accompaniment.

How?

The ex-prisoners who want it or who are considered “ready” for this experience, live in the House of Mercy, praying, working and studying for social and family reintegration and full rehabilitation.

The rhythm of the day, the week and the months that the ex-prisoners spend in the House of Mercy are structured with a number of communal and individual activities.

God wants, man dreams, and the work is born!
